Hello from Auckland, NZ. What a year!
I consider myself more fortunate than many in as much that my work allows for me to work from home. In addition, I have a number of private commissions that have kept me busy during the year. More on that later...
Two of my most recent 'personal' works are:
'The flight of the Kea' - As the mighty Elk makes his roar. You can almost hear the sound reverberating around the quietness of Mitre Peak and surrounding mountain ranges.
'The Muster' - Thunderhead’s mount over the heard as they make a final push before nightfall. Camp awaits over the next crossing and there is a sense of unease with the approaching weather.
These paintings are oil on linen. I have treated these paintings a little differently in the process of painting them. How you ask ? What I have done is finely layered and mixed each colour with a transparent glaze which gives the work an tremendous amount of luminosity of light.
The process was used by the old masters like Vermeer, Albert Bierstadt and takes an incredible amount of time but once finished they look amazing!

Being quite new to the local community, I have been looking for opportunities to get more involved and so, I'm collaborating with other artists to help raise funds for Hospice.
We were so intrigued with these snubbed headed birds that I decided to do a painting of one .
