Auckland-based Primrose was appointed Sir Ed’s official artist for celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the great mountaineer’s conquest of Mt Everest and has been his preferred artist ever since.

Two Primrose portraits selected by Sir Ed hang in the Explorers’ Club in New York and another, gifted to President Bill Clinton, is in the White House.
